Rethink Everything
Lean into new ideas. Make them real.
Conn students are built to defy boundaries. They’ll shine in a global workforce that rewards creative problem-solvers who are versatile, adaptable and, above all, resilient. Because we’ve led the way in experienced-based career preparation, students possess the skills, knowledge and freedom to forge a path on their own terms.
From the moment students step on campus, our award-winning career program seamlessly integrates their intellectual and social growth with professional development. Ideas move from conceptual to concrete when examined in the classroom and on the job. This distinctive approach prepares students to enter the world—and the job market—with the confidence to lead with courage and conviction. Ongoing donor support is critical to making it work.

The Hale Center for Career Development is a state-of-the-art facility located at the heart of campus, supported by the generosity of Karen Hale P’20 and Rob ’88. The Center’s location in Fanning Hall, a central hub of academic activity, sends a powerful message to our community—that we are committed to supporting students as they identify and prepare for meaningful careers even as they pursue their education.

Whether through our internship program—which was among the first of its kind—our Career Informed Learning initiative or the expanding roster of professional development opportunities, students connect what they are learning in the classroom to real-world lessons and prepare to make an impact after they graduate. From day one, collaborating with a personal adviser, as well as faculty, staff, alumni and parent mentors, students build an action plan that will empower them to thrive in life and in work.

Since its opening in 2011, the Academic Resource Center (ARC) has had a transformative impact on student achievement and become a national model for student success. Every student—100%—has used the Center, learning to translate the elements of their liberal arts education—critical and analytical thinking, interdisciplinary study, creative and collaborative problem solving and public speaking—into the skills necessary to navigate an increasingly interconnected world. Thanks to a generous gift from anonymous donors in 2019, the ARC has expanded on its original promise with a new Program for Communication Excellence that incorporates the Roth Writing Center and a new Program in Critical and Collaborative Thinking, as well as an enhanced Program in Quantitative Reasoning. This evolution in programming reflects the changing needs of students in the new global economy.
